My Style Evolution

So, I was thinking the other day about how much my style has developed over the years. I started looking through some old photos and I was cracking up at half of the things I was wearing. I felt like I had to share this lovely style story with all of the internet to see. Please refrain from laughing too hard.

The 90's: Floral, spandex, and huge bows were the extent of my clothes in my childhood. My mother was a big Target shopper and loved any opportunity to have my sister and me match. I must say she did a good job at making sure we were both camera ready. I loved playing dress up as a kid. I'm almost one hundred percent sure that's why is so eclectic.
Teenage Angst: This was the era of flannels and t-shirts. All day, every day. I wore my American Eagle skinny jeans with either one of those tops, threw on a hoodie, my Vans, and I called it a day. I wasn't know much for my style in high school, but more so my hair. It was long and pin straight for the first 3 years of high school. Thank goodness I discovered a curling iron.
Fresh out of High School: Right before I graduated, we had this event called "Senior Dress Up Day" where you get all fancy and go to school. I had nothing but zip ups and v necks in my closet so my mother decided to take me shopping. I walked into American Eagle and saw the most glorious denim jacket to ever exist. I had never worn denim on my top half before I didn't know how to approach it. Once I bought it, I realized I would have to get pants that were something other than denim to go with the jacket. Then I discovered dresses and chords and various other fabrics and textures that were completely new to me. I would like to thank my little denim jacket for enabling me to venture out into the fashion world.
RIP Jacket. It had a good run. Half of the sleeve ripped off after getting caught on too many door handles and branches. You will be missed and remembered. </3

Me now! Now I have accepted and embraced so many different styles in fashion. Some days I am very bohemian, other days I'm on the edgier side. And then there are my "comfy cute" days (as Alyssa and I like to call it). I feel like I have invented a look of my own and I actually look forward to getting dressed in the morning.

  1. There is no way I could ever do a post like this, I wore some truly awful things that did not sit me at all in my 9-12 ages years! You look so great all the way through! :)
